Honens announces first surplus in Competition’s history

For the first time in its fifteen years of operations, Calgary’s prestigious Honens International Piano Competition has posted an operating surplus during a Competition year. The announcement of the 2006 Competition year’s financial success was announced at Honens’ Annual General Meeting last Friday at which the Board elected Heather Bourne as Board Chairman leading to the
2009 Competition.
    ”This is an exciting time for Honens. We’ve become Calgary’s furthest reaching arts organization through local, national and international touring and the Honens Competition is recognized among the best in the world. We’re thrilled to have so many supporters who help us maintain Honens’ standards of excellence,” said Executive Director, Stephen McHolm.
    Honens is Canada’s leading presenter of music for piano. Every year, Honens produces and supports more than 100 concert, education and outreach events in Calgary, across Canada and around the globe. The triennial Honens International Piano Competition is one of the world’s great music competitions.
